Be as quiet as possible, noise attracts zombies. 4-5 zombies are manageable, 20-30+ zombies, now you have a problem. Leave your hideout as little as possible and hoarde as much supplies as you can, if you can retrieve large amounts of supplies at one time safely, you'll only have to leave your hideout once or twice a month if that. Rather than use generators for power, you should use batteries. Generators are loud, and as stated before noise attracts zombies. Batteries on the other hand power anything, and since the zombie apocalypse prices have dropped like a rock. With batteries you can power walkmans, flash lights, radios, even gameboys if you get bored enough.
