When I left off you had just went to go get food, and now you're back contemplating whether or not you need to go get weapons. For one almost anything can be used as a weapon, look around for blunt club like objects, such as table legs. What? no tables or chairs in all of your hideout? Well in that case you have to determine if you need a weapon before you go risk yourself looking for one. Ask yourself: are there a lot of zombies around? (if so you might want to improve your barricade too, zombies are strong in large groups) now, are there enough zombies to where you need a weapon, but little enough so you won't be at too much risk running through them? That question is negotiable with your preference, but the more, the more dangerous, obviously.
So lets say you decide to go get that weapon, what to look for? Guns? If your Mall has a gun store (which I've never seen a Mall have), but I wouldn't recommend guns anyway, too loud, guns are good, but in a Mall only as a last resort, you want to alert as few zombies as possible (hopefully none). If you don't want a blunt object, I would go get a big knife from a deli or something in the food court. If your Mall has a gym a heavy dumbbell would crush a zombie skull quite well.
The next item you should get is a CB radio or something of that nature (most likely found in an electronics store) in case there are search party's, they probably wouldn't go in a mall just for the hell of it, let em' know you're there, that way you might not be stuck in some rank zombie infested mall the rest of your life. Oh, you might also want to make a couple water runs before you return and close up your hideout, you don't want to have to open and close it too often, and your body can go a lot longer without food than it can water. Go get bottled water (its safe to drink) from the food court, again, try to fill your jacket/wheelbarrow/ as much as possible, you REALLY need water.
And with that your hideout is adaquetly stocked and about as safe as can be, you're in for what will probably be a long wait, unless you're one of those adventurous types, but this concludes Zombie Survival 1, tune in next time for Zombie Survival 2, and various short tips on how to make your stay in the zombie apocalypse a little bit safer.
